When unseating pumps becomes a problem due to sand, scale or other mediums,
the Flexbar Shear Tool (ST) can save
money and hours of pulling unit time associated with stripping jobs.
Shear devices are imperative when using fiberglass or composite sucker
rod strings and a good idea on many steel sucker rod strings. Since fiberglass
and composite sucker rod strings cannot transmit sufficient backoff torque,
it's best to have a reliable shear tool to release the rod string from
the pump should you be unable to unseat it. Our shear tools are laboratory
tested to assure accuracy and consistency. The Shear Tool is designed
to shear and release when its rated load plus the sucker rod string weight
is pulled (according to the pulling unit weight indicator). This should
allow the removal of the sucker rod string. Used with a steel rod string,
our shear tool can eliminate the need to back off the steel string several
times while pulling the tubing to reach an unseated or stuck pump.
